Welcome to the combat Hooligans preview and predictions for WWE’s ‘Cyber Sunday’ 2007. The show where things are left in the hands of the fans, the people have the power to vote for one good stipulation or 1 of 2 not so good stipulations for each match.
Rey Mysterio Vs. Finlay
Stip Choices: Stretcher Match, Shilelagh on a pole or No DQ.
I’d say given the ending to the No Mercy bout, the fact No Dq matches are real common and the fact that Vince Russo doesn’t have time to vote 100,000 times a day for the pole match means we’re getting the stretcher match.
As for the winner, really they could get sympathy for another gimmick match down the road by having Finlay obliterate Rey but somehow I don’t think that’s in the cards.

U.S. Championship Match: Matt Hardy Vs. MVP
Stip Choices: Boxing Match, Wrestling Match or MMA match
I don’t care what happens on this show as long as MMA match is victorious. I can’t wait for Michael Cole to explain that MVP is using pound and ground. Matt Hardy is going in to this match injured so why not work with it? I say have MVP beat him to a bloody mess.
Winner: MVP
Umaga Vs. Triple H
Stip Choices: First Blood, Street Fight, or Steel cage match
This match is a showcase of 2 truths. The first is that when given as a choice, Steel Cage will always rule. Second, when given a match Hunter will pretty much always win.
Winner: HHH
ECW Championship Match: CM Punk Vs.
Choices: John Morrison, The Miz, Big Daddy V
I fear if Morrison is the pick he’s going over. I fear if V is the pick the match will suck and I fear if Miz is the pick Euan’s swearing will break the internet. I predict that Big Daddy V gets the vote because the people are kind of tired of Punk Vs. Morrison.
However, I don’t see Big Daddy V winning the title here so that’s good news for the CM Punk fans.
Winner: CM Punk
World Heavyweight Championship: Undertaker Vs. Batista
Referee Choices: Steve Austin, Mick Foley or JBL
Gee, I wonder which of those 3 men will be the most popular with voters? The real question is what does it matter who the special ref is, it isn’t like either Austin or Foley have current issues with either guy and it isn’t like anybody cares about what JBL has to say.
As for who wins, I just don’t think that the belt is going back to Undertaker just yet. I think something screwy goes down, possibly interference from Edge and that Taker is cost the belt. Oh, and somebody gets a stunner.
Winner: Batista
WWE Championship Match: Randy Orton Vs.
Choices: Ken Kennedy, Jeff Hardy or Shawn Michaels
I think that Kennedy has absolute 0 hope of winning. I believe also that Jeff Hardy has a better chance of winning than some people realize. In the end though, as much as I’d like to see Hardy win if for no other reason than it would at least be different and we could possibly see Michaels against Kennedy and watch to see if Michaels has a meltdown, ultimately I think HBK gets the vote.
In the match though, I see Orton doing some heelish things and retaining the title.
Winner: randyOrton
Bonus prediction: Jeff Hardy will wrestle and defeat Ken Kennedy on this show.

This UFC 77 ‘Hostile Territory’ preview is going to be shorter than is typical for me. The fact is that I’ve been busy as all hell the past couple of days working on site related things which I’ll wager most people won’t even appreciate if they even notice at all but which will make the site better.
Lightweight Bout:
Matt "The Real One" Grice: 25, 5'8, 155, 9-1-0
Vs.
Jason Black: 34, 5'8, 155, 22-3-1
I know nothing about either guy really accept they both lost in their UFC debuts. Black is the heavy favorite so I’ll pick him to win because I’m tired.
Winner: Jason Black
Welterweight Bout:
Forrest "The Meat Cleaver" Petz: 31, 5'10, 170, 19-4-0
Vs.
"The People’s Warrior" Josh Burkman: 27, 5'10, 170, 19-4-0
I seem to always under rate Forrest Petz for some reason. Maybe it’s the Meat Cleaver thing. Anyway, both these guys are talented and both could use the win. Burkman’s competition of late has been better, he lost to Karo Parisyan in his last bout while Petz defeated Luigi Fiorvanti last time out. I’ll take Burkman but it is a tough one.

Middleweight Bout:
Demian Maia: 29, 6'0, 185, 6-0-0

Ryan Jensen: 29, 5'10, 185, 11-2-0
I again know nothing about either guy really, Maia is making his debut while Jensen is coming off a loss to Thales Leites. I’m picking Maia to win because his name is cooler.

Jorge Gurgel: 30, 5'9, 155, 14-2-0
Vs.
Alvin "Kid" Robinson: 24, 5'8, 155, 9-2-0
Gurgel is coming off a win over Diego Saraiva at UFC 73 while Robinson is coming off a loss to Kenny Florian. At 0-1 in the UFC Robinson definitely needs a win but unfortunately for him Gurgel is a real tough out. I’m picking Gurgel to take this.

Middleweight Bout:
Jason "The Athlete" MacDonald: 31, 6'3, 185, 19-8-0
Vs.
Yushin Okami: 25, 6'2, 185, 21-4-0
The winner of this fight could get a title shot which is kind of sad since Rich Franklin beat both of these guys earlier this year. Okami lost to Franklin his last time out while MacDonald, a Franklin victim at UFC 68, defeated Rory Singer at UFC 72.
MacDonald is more of an exciting fighter while Okami is less so but wins way more than he loses and nearly tapped Franklin in round 3 at UFC 72. I’ll go with Okami if only because while MacDonald does well against members of the Ultimate Fighter, it is only cast members he beats and Okami never was one of those.

Middleweight Bout:
Kalib Starnes: 32, 6'1, 185, 10-1-1

Alan "The Talent" Belcher: 22, 6'2, 185, 10-3-0
I picked Belcher on the little preview show Euan and I did, so I’m sticking with that here.

Picked Bonnar on the show, sticking with my choice. I’m really exhausted, maybe even moreso when I recorded that show that’s why it is just easier for me to tell you to listen to it.

Welcome back to the UFC Brandon Vera. He gets a tough opponent in the former champ in his first match back. I am not nearly as down on Tim Sylvia as my friend Euan but as I’ve mentioned several times I am a pretty big fan of Brandon Vera. I think both men have something to prove which is why I actually expect this to be a pretty entertaining brawl. I think it all comes down to Sylvia’s reach. If Vera can close the distance and not allow himself to take many big shots then he should be in good shape to win.
Winner: Brandon Vera
Middleweight Championship Bout:
Rich "Ace" Franklin: 32, 6'1, 185, 24-2-0
Vs.
Anderson "The Spider" Silva: 33, 6'0, 185, 19-4-0
Lots of intrigue in this fight. How will Anderson Silva handle being so roundly hated? Is Anderson Silva still in Franklin’s head after last years beating? Can Franklin resist the temptation to stand with him and take this to the ground? Honestly, I’ve thought about this a lot and while I’m not as automatic on this as Euan, Euan tends to make more extreme statements on fights than I, we both give this one to Silva. He’s on a role and I’m not picking against him this time after looking so bad the last time I did it.
Winner: Anderson Silva

Welcome to the big preview and predictions column for this Sunday’s bound for Glory event. This is it, the big show, the signature event, TNA’s Wrestlemania. Well, now we know what Wrestlemania would feel like if it were booked by TNA.
If you like stipulation matches and matches with illogical build then this is the show for you because we’ve got plenty of the first and no shortage on the second. Lets run this card down and see what we’re dealing with at Bound for Glory 2007.
Ultimate X Match:
Triple X Vs. The Latin American Xchange
Ok, as near as I can figure it here is the build for this match. Both Triple X and LAX have X in their name and are thus qualified to be in Ultimate X because we’re required by law to have an Ultimate X match on this show.
The 2 teams have had minimal interaction save for being on opposite sides of an 8-man tag on the 2 hour debut of iMPACT. Really, this match is just on the show to have a good match on the show. I ordinarly don’t object to that sort of thing but the few fans TNA does have are in to both of these teams and would like to see some attention paid to them.
This will open the show and it is a risk because there is potential that nothing else on the card will be able to top it. Really, picking a winner here doesn’t matter because it isn’t as though either team will advance past this point but I’m going to take LAX.

Fight for the Right - 16 man Reverse Battle Royal for Future Title shot

Yes, it is back, the worst gimmick match I have ever seen and the reason I’m recapping this show. Hey, if TNA is going to book it, I am going to be there to make fun of it. As a tease, during the show, I will reveal my top 10 needed reverse gimmick match ideas.
An explanation of the rules since we’re not going to get one from TNA. All 16 men fight on the floor. The first 4 men to make it in to the ring will then fight with the man scoring the winning pin getting the future title shot. Why we couldn’t just pick 4 guys and have them wrestle for the title, I don’t know but it likely has to do with the need to get everyone on this show. I expect that Sonjay Dutt, VKM and maybe Sharkboy are 4 of the five remaining participants.
You can eliminate Shelley and Sabin because people like them so it isn’t going to happen. Eliminate Eric Young and Petey Williams because who cares? Eliminate Kaz and Robert Roode because they seem to be off in their own deal. Really, Junior Fatu, Chris Harris and James Storm are the only viable choices of the one’s we know so far. Well, the Chris Harris push stalled out over the summer, James Storm and Kurt Angle are both heels and Junior Fatu used to wrestle in WWE. Only way it is one of the mystery dudes is if one of those is RVD. Oh, and if Jeff Jarrett returns in the reverse battle royal I’ll laugh my ass off and he’ll win, thus ending the laughter.
Winner: Junior Fatu
Monster's Ball Match:
Raven Vs. Rhino Vs. Black Rain Vs. Abyss
Well, this match is different because this will have all of the blood and weapons and such. I’ll give TNA credit for this much at least they have the 4 best possible guys on the roster in this kind of match, well 3 and Black Rain who is useless at everything. Judas Mesias was supposed to be in this match but his injury in Mexico had to scratch those plans for the time being. I see Abyss as being the only viable winner. Rhino gains nothing with a win and loses nothing with a loss. Raven is way past the point of interesting and Black Rain is so useless that he’s practically guaranteed to go over just because of that fact.
I’ll go with my pick though and say Abyss goes over even after taking a big bump of some kind.

Tables Match:
The Steiner Brothers Vs. Team 3-D
I cared about the first meeting between these 2 teams but don’t really care so much about the rematch. Way to build up a feud, TNA! Steiners won the first go-round so I’ll say Team 3-D does some cheating to even things up and prepare us for another wacky stipulation match in the future.
Winners: Team 3-D
TNA Women's Championship Match - 10 woman gauntlet
Gail Kim, Amazon Kong, Angel Williams, Shelley Martinez, Talia Madison, ODB, Christy Hemme, Jackie Moore, Ms. Brooks, Roxie Laveaux (earned the right to
enter the match last)
I know that Amazing Kong has signed a TNA deal. I don’t know what kind of deal the other 4 women are under, so it will either be Kong or 1 of the original Knockouts. I think that Kong winning the title and being set up as the monster for the other women to try and conquer would be the most interesting story. Plus, she’s already got a victory over my beloved Gail.
Winner: Amazing Kong
There must be a Winner: Matt Morgan as special Enforcer
Christian Cage Vs. Samoa Joe
I love matches that must have a winner because it implies that all other matches must not have a winner. What the company is going to do here is so obvious everyone but the announcers can see it coming. Christian will get all up in Morgan’s business, Morgan will punk him out and Joe will get the win. Thus Christian can say he only lost because it was 2 on 1 and as another bonus, Joe gains nothing from the win. Everyone loses which is standard opporating procedure in TNA.
Winner: Samoa Joe
TNA World X-division Championship:
Christopher Daniels Vs. Black Machismo Jay Lethal
Believe it or not, this match actually has a couple of months build behind it and even more amazing is that it kind of makes sense. Lethal pinned Daniels in a tag match at Hard Justice while Daniels was #1 contender for the X-title. So Lethal took Daniels’ place as top contender and then beat Kurt Angle to win the belt. Then, Daniels pinned Lethal in a non-title match.
TNA has screwed up bad when it comes to Jay Lethal. They didn’t even need an hour to start ruining any momentum he might have gained by beating Angle when he was punked out like a random jobber by Samoa Joe later in the show. Then he lost to Daniels on the next week’s iMPACT and then he and Sonjay were beaten down by Team 3-D on the 2 hour debut. Yeah, this guy is the X-division champion. Reportedly, Kurt Angle hasn’t been happy with the way Jay Lethal has been treated and maybe that’s what caused him to go on a drunk driving excursion.
As for who wins, who cares? Daniels has no defined character and Lethal has been made to look like a joke. Lethal’s last title reign only lasted a week so he’s already got that bested.

TNA World Tag Team Championship Match:
AJ Styles and Tomko Vs. Ron 'The Truth' Killings and Pacman Jones
So help me in an odd sort of way, Team Pacman is growing on me. Pacman Jones’ is the worst interview ever but he’s so bad I end up being entertained.
The trouble is that you can only do what they’ve done with him for so long before people catch on and people are catching on. So as funny as I find it to watch them do everything possible for him to avoid contact, I’m afraid my amusement is coming to an end.
I think it is time for the belts to go to Styles and Tomko. Plus, I think they can then annoy Christian by pointing out that they have belts and he does not.
Winner: AJ Styles and Tomko
TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match:
Sting Vs. Kurt Angle
So get the logic of this match. Kurt Angle tells Karen to pretend that Sting slapped her so that Kurt has an excuse to go in to a rage and go after Sting’s own family. Kurt Angle is hoping that this will make Sting mad enough that he’ll revert to the Sting of old for the PPV and be at his very best.
So wouldn’t Angle attacking Sting’s son without any false motivation have accomplished the same goal. I mean the reason for the attack was already bogus so why do we even need a bogus reason in the first place when no reason at all would’ve theoretically accomplished the same thing.
As for who is going to win. Well, seeing as how Kurt was arrested for drunk driving and TNA has a strict drug policy, he should probably do the job. However, given that the previous line is a bunch of shit and given that Sting is unlikely to sign for another year in TNA, the drunken champion will probably retain.
The more interesting question, and not by much, is whether or not Kevin Nash costs Sting the bout as I theorized in my iMPACT coverage. Sting said to Nash that he was losing his edge and in Vince Russo’s world those comments are always a hint of something to come. So, since the buzz has been a Nash return to the ring, why not get it started here? Plus, talk has been of maybe Waltman and Hall coming in because TNA isn’t 1997 enough as it is so why not say that the whole thing was foreshadowed the whole time even if it really wasn’t so?

Welcome to the official preview for WWE’s ‘No Mercy’ 2007 which takes place this Sunday in Chicago. This card was to feature a Last Man Standing Match between John Cena and Randy Orton for the WWE Championship but life has a funny way of changing plans some time.
This show, due in part to Cena’s injury, and also to the Save_Us_222 deal that has been airing on WWE programming has more intrigue behind it than most of the other WWE Pay Per View offerings this year.
Lets break this one open and see what kind of juices spill out. No coin this month, and really it is for the best.
I say this in every preview for a WWE show but the Hardy/MVP dynamic is still the most entertaining thing on any of the WWE programs. The thing with Deuce and Domino would appear to have run its coarse for the time being, and so why not kick things up a notch by re-entering the Brothers of Destruction?
This match feels like something they set up to accomplish the goal of furthering the Hardy/MVP story but also to get undertaker on to a Pay Per View. I think the way they should go with it is play up the fact that the Brothers are a bad news matchup for 2 guys who don’t get along. Then I’d have MVP/Hardy win somehow with both taking credit for getting the job done and fracturing things that much more. No way Taker gets pinned though so if this happens Kane does the job. I’m ok with that myself.

Beth is getting the approval of Ric Gillespie which must mean she is secretly, or perhaps openly a man. Candice has held the title longer than most people thought she would but really what more can you do with her as champion? Of course, it isn’t as though the WWE has a lot of female faces to challenge Beth but they can put Candice in the challenger role for a PPV or 2 before resorting to Mickey James or trying to turn Melina. It feels like a title switch.
Winner: Beth Phoenix
Remember Rey’s much hyped return at SummerSlam? Yeah me neither and the reason is that feels like ages ago. The way he’s been treated lately, you’d almost think they had snuck the World Championship back on him while nobody was looking. I’ve got nothing against Finlay and this should be a good match, but this whole program is cold. Of course, that’s true of Rey in general and he’s only been back for a little over a month.
I think Rey needs the win here. Whether he gets the win or not is not up to me to decide. I’ll go with him winning, but really a Finlay win would mean a Rey job and that would certainly not surprise me.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
So they have a chase for the championship. It starts out with Kevin Thorn, Stevie Richards, Tommy Dreamer and Elijah Burke. Richards was eliminated in a 4-way, Thorn in a 3-way the next week and this past Tuesday Dreamer beat Burke to earn the shot. Then something very fat happened and Big Daddy V ate his way in to the match instead. Well, you knew the Big guy was going to get the title shot eventually cause they’re building him up for bigger things.
Honestly, a Big Daddy V title win because I honestly don’t think they like CM Punk all that much. However, there is a way they can protect V without Punk losing and that is for Morrison to interfere in the match causing the DQ. That actually sets up a 3-way that could lead to a fun stipulation at Cyber Sunday. So, I say Morrison attacks Punk which gives him the DQ win and we go from there. One more comment on Big Daddy V. I’m glad it is iMPACT and not ECW going to HD in 2008 because V shirtless in HD is not something that anyone should want to see.
Winner: CM Punk
It is generating enough buzz that you wonder if they don’t try to drag it out past this show. All signs point to this being connected to the return of Chris Jericho. As we discussed on Episode 9 of the Combat Hooligans audio show, Jericho’s return is welcome but really won’t change much of anything. It isn’t as though a throng of fans are not watching WWE only because Jericho isn’t around.
Umaga is back from suspension, otherwise known as a Wellness Policy mandated vacation. He’s coming back to face the guy who in storyline put him out and that is the one and only Triple H. Here’s how I see this one going. Vince McMahon and Carlito help to screw over the Game costing him the match but then after the match he does some fustigating to remind everyone that he’s still awesome.
Winner: Umaga via shenanigans
Yay, Punjabi Prison is making its return. I don’t even know how to explain this other than there’s basically 4 doors, one in each side of the cage. Periodically one swings open and you’ve got a certain amount of time to exit before it closes and is unable to be opened the remainder of the match. There’s 2 layers of this cage and the goal is to escape from both to win. I’m not sure on all of the details but that’s the match to the best of my understanding.
This is not going to be pretty. Some people I know were happy to see this match return because it is an interesting concept. I told them that it also had Undertaker and Big Show last time and now it has none of those. Khali and Batista do not work well together and this has ugly written all over it. It also has a Batista retaining the title written all over it.
Winner: Batista
I actually think it is kind of a mistake to declare a champion will be crowned on this show. A tournament or something like that could be used to really make a guy, kind of like Survivor Series 1998. However, this is the company of lost opportunities so lets just work under the assumption that somehow they crown a champion Sunday. Who will it be?
Mr. Kennedy – Maybe it is just me, but this guy still seems to be in the doghouse for that whole lying about Steroids thing.
Triple H – Seems too obvious of a choice, but if he does lose to Umaga and not immediately get his heat back, this becomes a greater possibility.
Chris Jericho – Hey, I give him a better chance of seeing the WWE Championship now than I did before John Cena got hurt.
Undertaker – Just to put that last nail in the coffin of Smackdown.
Val Venis – Give the people what they want!!!
Randy Orton – Vince is high on the guy lately, he’s given credit for the Cena injury and if you don’t give him the belt, then you might as well write can’t win the big one on his forehead and call him a choker. I see the benefits of putting the title on Orton, claiming he did the deed of injuring Cena and I’d keep the belt on him until Cena returns and make some big money. It seems too logical for it to happen but we’ll still go with it anyway.

I’m not exactly sure how this show will be covered by our site. Euan is contemplating ordering it as part of an order 2 get 1 free special involving No Mercy, Survivor Series and Armageddon. If he orders it, you’ll have live coverage. If not, who knows?
