* Action started early with the PWU Wrestling Academy sponsored Gangrel seminar with over 20 attendees.

* But the night kicked off in front of the fans with the wedding of Vampire Ravenheart and Vampiress Magdalena, best man Johnny "The New Batman" Kashmere, best maid Amy Lee, & several other members of the PWU Locker Room.

* Z-Barr w/ "The Original Diva" Sunny (dressed as Catwoman) def Lucky

Despite Z-Barr's arrogant promises of becomming the first PWU TV champion, it was Lucky who caught the ire of the fans with the "New Jersey Sucks" chants. Lucky went on a fast paced attack to start, but used one too many underhanded tactics after going for a crossbody splash from the top, Z-Barr caught him with his brainbuster for the pin!

* PWU TV Title 1st Round Match: "The Immaculate" TJ Cannon def "Picture Perfect" Bruce Maxwell

It was the battle of "The Best Around" starting as Maxwell and Cannon went hold for hold, but when neither could get the advantage, it broke down to cheap shotting each other until Cannon connected with a drop toe hold. Maxwell was able to toss out Cannon, but misses a huge frogsplash to the floor! But Cannon hit a suicide dive, taking both men into the crowd! These two continued to go at it until Cannon connected with a shooting star double stomp.

* Pro Wrestling Unplugged Women's Title Match: Annie Social def "Primetime" Amy Lee(c)

Amy Lee was ready for a fight as her challenger, Annie Social, dressed as Wonder Woman, was accompanied by "The REAL Pitbull" Gary Wolf. But a miscue from Dr. Don Bootz caused him to collide with Lee instead of Social. With Lee stunned, Social made the cover to become the NEW PWU WOMEN'S CHAMPION!

* In "The Batcave", Kashmere & "Boy Wonder" Jimmy Klydesdale welcomed special guests "Living Legend" Larry Zbysko & "Living Legend" Larry Winters. Kashmere asked the Larrys if PWU could hold TWO Living Legends. But Winters said he's found the next legends in PWU...and they are THE BEST AROUND, TJ CANNON & BRUCE MAXWELL...and he's promising to bring them to the top in three months. Zybsko made a bet - if Winters can make T.B.A. champs in three months, he'll pay him seventy five thousand dollars!

* Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine def Helter Skelter and Gangrel

Greg "The Hammer" and Gangrel started off, with Valentine & Beefcake making quick tags and used their experience to ground the international supertsar. After a cheap shot, Gangrel managed to tag in Helter Skelter, who "The Dream team" quickly punishes. Skelter narrowly escapes and tags in Gangrel, who begins choking Beefcake. After both men collide in the ring, both tag out with Valentine getting the advantage on Skelter, locking in a figure four, & tapping Skelter out!

* The Sandman def "The Panther" Tyrone Evans

A Missie Sampson began to announce the next match, a large man took the mic & announced himself as "The Panther" Tyrone Evans, who said he was there to give Philadelphia an upgrade and promised to beat anyone's ass who came to the ring...but he wasn't expecting THE SANDMAN. Evans tried to use a large chain on Sandman, but Sandman intercepted and hit the White Russian Legsweep, then cracked Evans in the head with the Singapore. Unable to get back in the ring with Sandman swinging his cane, Evans hightailed it back to Cleveland!

* PWU TV Title 1st Round Match: Aramis w/ "The REAL Pitbull" Gary Wolf def Hellfire w/ The Hoodies

Hellfire tried to use underhanded tactics & his power to try & take out Aramis. But, Aramis used his agility to win out hitting a brainbuster after a split legged moonsault for the pin. But The Hoodies attacked Aramis from behind & rushed Hellfire to the back.

* Tod Gordon announced The SATs would be stripping of their titles & that The Bosom Buddies would still challenge for the titles...against rivals, The Best Around.

* Gordon then annnounced the final five contestants for Commissioner Idol: The White Board Mafia, Chris Calloway, Stephanie, Loudfan, and The Kliq. Make sure you vote at www.prowrestlingunplugged.com!

* All Money Is Legal def John McChesney and Adam Flash

McChesney & both members of All Money Is Legal started off with an impressive display of unique technical wrestling. Eventually all four members squared off until AMIL removed Flash from the equation. Flash slapped McChesney for a tag, and tried to whip him into Murda, but while Adam Flash's back was turned, Murda booted McChesney in the face, and AMIL double teamed McChesney for the win. In the end, Flash blamed McChesndey for losing the match, beating the hell out of him.

* PWU TV Title 1st Round Match: Trent Acid w/ "Discount" Dewey Donovan def Justice Pain

Trent lets Pain know they helped start another extreme revolution after ECW folded and wants Pain in a no rules, anything goes match. Both went toe to toe in a viscious assault with the match quickly breaking down with both going to the outside. Pain was able to kick out after a hitting a top rope legdrop across two chairs and a Yakuza. After another Yakuza attempt, Pain hits a Death Valley Driverm then a belly to belly suplex from the top onto chairs, but Trent kicked out. After trading blows, Pain went for another death valley driver, but Trent rolled him up with a crucifix pin.

* Pro Wrestling Unplugged Tag Team Championship Match
The Bosom Buddies def The Best Around w/ "Living Legend" Larry Winters

The Arena was filled with U-S-A chants in support of The Bosom Buddies. But the early advantage Fine had was taken away by the involvement of Larry Winters. T.B.A. & Winters then used every underhanded tactic in the book. But when Cannon went for the Shooting Star Double Stomp, Fine moved & hit a HUGE lariat. The Bosom Buddies then kept on the attack, finally hitting a combination powerbomb crossbody splash to get the three count to become the NEW PWU TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!

* Pro Wrestling Unplugged World Heavyweight Championship Match: Devon Moore def Too Cold Scorpio(c)

Moore says he doesn't trust any PWU referee, so Tod Gordon asks Zbysko to officiate...WHO ACCEPTS! A technical star broke down quick into a vicious back & forth assault. The two began trading high flying action both in & outside of the ring. Moore & Scorpio tore each other apart with an array of violent strikes. Zbysko though caught Moore trying to use brass knux. When Scorpio regained the advantage, his adrenaline blinded him and accidentally hit Zbysko when trying to pull Too Cold out of the corner. Distracted, Moore took advantage, rolling Scorpio up for an unbelievably FAST three-count to become the NEW PWU WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!

* Tod Gordon announced that next Saturday in Feasterville it will be Too Cold Scorpio vs. Devon Moore in a Steel Cage for the PWU World Heavyweight Title...with Tod Gordon as special guest referee!

On Monday night, Johnny Kashmere and John House were guests on the Monday Night Mayhem pro wrestling radio show. Pro Wrestling Unplugged's Power Surge TV has made Wednesdays the new night for wrestling on TV!

Broadcasting on Comcast Philadelphia channel 66 and Comcast Lower Merion channel 98, new episodes of Power Surge TV air Wednesdays at 8 pm. PSTV is also simulcast on ProWrestlingUnplugged.com for free all week long.

• For our new fans, Power Surge TV started with a special video introduction to the stars of PWU.

• A rivalry building since PWU's "Moore Than Enough" (available on DVD from PWU's Pro Shop) exploded onto Power Surge TV as Violent J of The Insane Clown Posse, 2 Tuff Tony, and Corporal Robinson (aka The Hatchet Boyz) were selected by the fans to face The Thomaselli Brothers (Sal, Vito, & Brandon). The triple teaming tactics of The Thomaselli's and the fan supported insanity of The Hatchet Boyz lead to a new level of chaos. Chair shots, Violent J flying from the top rope to the floor, a Flaming Fist, & more all led to a conclusion as insane as the match itself!

• A special Detox highlight reel was aired showing off the aerial excellence of the XFC Wrestling Training Center graduate.

• Too Cold Scorpio sat down with Nate Stein to answer questions about his start in wrestling, travelling around the world, wrestling some of the best wrestlers there have ever been, and being in Pro Wrestling Unplugged.

• In a Platform Steel Cage Match for the PWU Tag Team Titles, champions All Money Is Legal (K-Murda and K-Pusha) defended against The SAT (Joel and Jose Maximo). The SAT had been on a path of destruction trying to regain "their" tag team gold - breaking the wrist of referee Derek Sabato, breaking the ankle of Missie Sampson, and injuring the ribs of referee J.W. Modina. But locked inside a steel cage, it became more about the gold. Both teams wanted each other's blood. From two of the most innovate tag teams in wrestling, locked inside a steel cage with platforms in each corner, it was one of the highest and hardest impact matches that you must see to be believed.

• Power Surge TV hosts Dan "The Phan" Cowhey and Jake Black looked at the history of the first three holders of the PWU World Heavyweight Title - "The Notorious 187" Homicide, "The International Superstar" Trent Acid, and Too Cold Scorpio.

• In your main event: Joey Matthews took on Trent Acid. Matthews started by calling Acid "jealous" of his accomplishments threatening Acid he will "beat some respect into him." Acid had a response though, "Yeah, I am bitter. Because frankly, you're just a Backseat wanna-be rip-off," promising Matthews a beat down. These two went at each other full steam ahead as soon as the bell sounded. The action stayed intense in the ring, turned vicious when both men spilled out of the ring, and showed the determination of both men to stay at the top of the ranks of Pro Wrestling Unplugged.

Tonight, Art and I with no Euan got together for the Combat Hooligans show.

We talked about the PWU show that Art attended on Saturday. Highlights included one flaw with the way the matches were structured, who was there both announced and as surprises, and Art meeting 2 of the attractions.

Then we move to talk of EXC's Uprising. I run down the 5 match results, comment on each. We talk about the Mauro Ranallo 25 CM comment which was a hot button issue for some and why it didn't need to be. The question of a double standard for men and women in terms of what they are allowed to say and or hear is addressed.

We talk about the Gina Carano post fight comments that should've gotten more attention than they did.

We discussed whether or not fighters who fail drug tests are morons and why they are or aren't. We talk about the issue of drug test failures and whether or not it is the same as the argument for legalizing Marijuana.

We discussed the WWE Pay Per View and last night's Raw and Triple H killing the tag division.

Talk briefly of TNA's move to 2 hours and why longer wrestling matches won't fix the problem.

We run down this week's coverage, from Art for Fight Night 11, Euan for Cage Rage 23 and myself for UFC 76 plus Art back again with Chikara.

We do some plugging for our friends Karl Stern Ric Gillespie and some of the sites who have Featured our show recaps and Live event coverage lately

It was just over an hour long and made for a great show. So how do you listen?

Pro Wrestling Unplugged celebrated their third anniversary Saturday night in front of a packed house at the New Alhambra Arena, a historic venue that has been home to many wrestling promotions since 1993.

Before the wrestling itself took place PWU held a Red Carpet ceremony in a parking lot across from the arena which featured many of the wrestlers performing this evening being interviewed about their matches by Johnny Kashmere who was sporting a Batman mask.

Local rock group Shovelhook played an acoustic set that was at one point interrupted by Joey Matthews who cut a promo on 2 Cold Scorpio who he was wrestling for PWU world title later on.

As fans were entering the arena for the evening's Diamond Anniversary show another local rock group Survival Rate Zero were entertaining the crowd inside.

Show opens with a PWU music video featuring various clips and highlights played to Pearl Jam's "Go".

Nikolai Volkoff comes out to the ring and sings the National Anthem, he seemed to forget some of the words and didn't finish the song, crowd didn't know what to really make of this but it was an interesting idea and surreal to hear him sing the National Anthem.

1) PWU TV Title Tournament - Match #1
Detox vs Lucky of The New Jersey Independent All Stars
Lucky comes out and tears a fan's sign who then replaces it with one that reads "You're Still A Jobber", Lucky wasn't too happy with that one. Lucky gets the early advantage striking away at Detox, gets cocky about it while Detox goes for a pin only to get a two-count. Lucky hits a standing moonsault and goes for a pin, gets another two-count. Lucky scoops up Detox, has him upside down and throws Detox hard into the corner. Lucky climbs to the top turnbuckle and falls back and gets his knee caught in the top rope, referee Mike Kehner checks on Lucky who then superkicks Detox but he catches Lucky's boot and hits a pumphandle slam for the win.

2) JC Ryder vs Aramis w/Gary Wolfe and Annie Social
Ryder's eyeing up Annie saying she's a beautiful girl and girls who look as good as her are from New Jersey, this gets "Jersey Sucks" chants and some people around me didn't take too kindly to that chant. Ryder immediately beats on Aramis cornering him with chops then trips him into the bottom turnbuckle taking control of the match but only gets a two-count for his first pin attempt. Ryder then flirts with Annie, Aramis hits a brainbuster on Ryder and gets the pin. Afterwards Aramis holds up Ryder while Annie slaps the hell out of him.

3) Special Challenge match: Justice Pain vs Gangrel
Former CZW wrestler Justice Pain makes his debut this evening accepting former WWE wrestler Gangrel's open challenge. Pain goes for the early advantage but Gangrel quickly takes control cornering Pain with a beating and goes for a pin but only gets a two-count. Pain hits a belly-to-belly on Gangrel and follows up with some punches and kicks. Gangrel heads out the ring and Pain dives out the ring onto Gangrel, after some fighting outside the ring both wrestlers are back in, Pain brings a chair but the ref takes it away. Gangrel gets the chair and goes for Pain in the corner with a chairshot and misses, Pain hits the Pain Thriller on Gangrel and gets the pinfall for his first win as a PWU wrestler.

4) PWU Women's title match
Amy Lee (champ) w/Dr. Bootz vs Lexx - referee: Annie Social
Lexx is a cutie, Lee comes out and throws her belt in the ring hitting Annie's head. Match was at a slow pace, Lexx was making an effort to get as much offense on Lee but didn't have much luck. Lee wins with a Gory stretch for the submission win, Lee then cuts a promo on Annie who wouldn't raise her hand for the victory, she challenges Annie next month and she accepts. Lee's jawjacking with a fan in the front row making fun of his teeth and clothes.

John House comes out to the ring and interviews Joey Matthews on his match later on, the last time I saw Matthews in this building was his last match in 3PW against Chris Sabin. A few fans and myself recalled the early days when Matthews was aligned with Special K in Ring Of Honor. Matthews at first puts over the Philadelphia fans then says he realizes that they're disrespectful. Matthews brings out his enforcer for the main event, Dan "The Beast" Severn! Severn assures Matthews he'll watch his back during the match.

PWU returns to the New Alhambra Arena on 10/27 featuring Brutus Beefcake, Larry Zbyszko and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine.

5) 1) PWU TV Title Tournament - Match #2
Z-Barr w/Sunny vs John McChesney
First off I couldn't believe how hot Sunny looked, Z-Barr attacks McChesney from behind following his chops and headbutts. McChesney fights back and superkicks him out the ring then gets on the top rope and hits a splash onto Z-Barr. Back in the ring McChesney corners Z-Barr, hits a dropkick and follows with a Northern Lights suplex. Another dropkick, McChesney goes for the pin but gets a two-count, Z-Barr kicks McChesney out of the ring and Sunny works on him. McChesney back in the ring gets a Bossman slam from Z-Barr, goes for the pin only with a two-count. Both men exchange vicious chops, McChesney hits a frogsplash and goes for a pin as Sunny distracts the ref. Z-Barr gets McChesney with a brainbuster for the win.

6) Number one contender's match for the PWU Tag Team titles
The Best Around (TJ Cannon and Bruce Maxwell) vs The Iron Saints (Sal and Vito Thomaselli) vs All Money Is Legal (K-Murda and K-Push)
TJ and Vito start off, lots of action with various tag partners coming in, TBA takes control beating on Murda then the Saints run in tossing TBA out the ring and continuing the beatdown on Murda. Pusha tags in getting revenge on the Saints, TBA back in and AMIL work on them also, Saints come back beating on AMIL. It's craziness as all teams are beating on each other, AMIL and the Saints take out TBA and then both AMIL and the Saints end up outside the ring fighting. The ref counts both teams out and The Best Around become the #1 contenders for the tag titles. The AMIL/Saints feud is far from over.

INTERMISSION

7) PWU TV Title Tournament - Match #3
Brandon Thomaselli vs Adam Flash
When the ring announcer is about to say Flash's name the mic cuts out, Flash gets mad and grabs the mic to say his name but again the mic cuts out. When Thomaselli grabs the mic it works fine, there are fans with signs featuring different versions of Flash's name, he's not amused. Thomaselli gets control early on getting Flash in a headlock then a chokehold, drops an elbow for a quick pin attempt but only gets a two-count. Flash hits a spinebuster and gains control cornering Thomaselli with elbows and hits a facebuster from the top rope but only another two-count. Flash on the top turnbuckle, Thomaselli hits a superplex leaving both men lying on the mat. Both men are up, Thomaselli hits a double underhook lungblower followed by "The Deal" (Thomaselli pulls Flash face-first down into his knees) for the victory.

Johnny Kashmere (in a Batman mask) and Jimmy Clydesdale (as Robin) debut their "Batcave" segment by bringing out special guest Diamond Dallas Page. They have contestants in the ring for the PWU Commissioner Idol contest where a PWU fan wins a spot as the promotion's commissioner. Each contestant gives a 30-second promo on why they would make a great commissioner. Voting for the winner takes place at www.prowrestlingunplugged.com. Segment ends with DDP, Kashmere and Clydesdale tossing packs of Batman cards to the crowd.

8) PWU TV Title Tournament - Match #4
Luke Hawx vs Eddie Kingston
Hawx wastes not time attacking Kingston from behind with a series of chops and kicks, Kingston retaliates with a powerslam and goes for a pin only getting a two-count. Luke goes for a lowblow followed by a kneedrop to Kingston's head. Hawx hits a neckbreaker but Kingston kicks out of his pin attempt, Hawx kicks Kingston several times, heads to the top turnbuckle but Kingston hits him with an enzuigiri. Eddie comes back hitting Hawx with a number of suplexes, Hawx hits a flatliner but only a two-count following another pin attempt. Eddie tries a backdrop driver and misses, Hawx with a spinning kick and misses, Kingston delivers and connects with a spinning back fist and gets the pin.

9) Number One contender's match for the PWU world title
Trent Acid w/Dewey Donovan vs Devon Moore
Trent takes his good ol' time getting to the ring working the crowd and emptying his shorts from the dollar bills given to him by girls in the crowd. Moore is all heated up and storms in attacking Acid, Acid returns with an aggressive series of punches and strikes to Moore. Moore delivers a sunset flip powerbomb to Acid outside the ring! Back in the ring Moore goes for a few pin attempts only getting two-counts, he's working on Acid with elbows in the corner, Acid hits a swinging neckbreaker and a springboard DDT. Moore and Acid on the top turnbuckle, Acid hits a sitout powerbomb but only gets a two-count, Moore goes out the ring and Moore hits an high Asai moonsault onto Moore slamming his ankle into the guardrail. Acid limps back into the ring and goes for a lariat, Moore ducks and referee Mike Kehner gets knocked out. Acid yakuza kicks Moore goes for the pin but the ref's still out, Moore has brass knuckles and punches out Acid. Moore puts the knucks in Acid's shorts and positions him on Moore for a pinfall, ref counts it then finds the knucks on Acid and reverses the decision in Moore's favor.

10) PWU tag team champions The S.A.T. (Jose and Joel Maximo) vs The Bosom Buddies (Teddy Fine and Drew Blood)
As the Bosom Buddies are in the ring waiting for the SAT they come from the crowd and attack the Buddies from behind. Both teams fight outside the ring then Teddy and Joel wrestle in the ring while Drew and Jose continue brawling outside, Drew helps his partner double team Joel. SAT come back hitting double team moves of their own regaining control of the match, Drew tags in beating on the SAT. SAT set Drew up on the top turnbuckle for the Spanish Fly but Teddy holds onto Drew's feet and the SAT go to the mat without him. Drew pins Joel following a crossbody getting a two-count, Joel hits Drew and rolls him up for the pin.

DDP comes out to do commentary for the main event.

11) PWU World Championship
2 Cold Scorpio (champ) vs Joey Matthews w/Dave "The Beast" Severn
Scorpio offers a handshake and Matthews flips him off. Match begins with some mat wrestling as both men counter each other's moves, they go for a test of strength and Matthews takes Scorpio down trying his best to get a pinfall without any luck. Scorpio now in control elbowing Matthews who then sends him out of the ring with an elbow strike of his own. Back in the ring Scorpio takes punishment from Matthews delivering a lariat followed by a sleeper hold, Scorpio grabs the ropes and the hold is broken. Scorpio hits a gord buster, Matthews on the top turnbuckle and Scorpio hits a sunset flip powerbomb for the pin but gets a two-count. Scorpio goes for a dropkick on Matthews and instead hits referee John Finnegan. The match breaks down as Severn applies a guillotine choke on Scorpio, DDT runs in hitting the Diamond Cutter on both Matthews and Severn, then Devon Moore runs in attacking DDP and Scorpio... suddenly the lights go out... a fan next to me wonders if it's Sandman then figures probably not... but in fact it is the Sandman! And the crowd pops like crazy! Moore, Matthews and Severn escape as DDP, Scorpio and Sandman celebrate in the ring, Todd Gordon comes to the ring as well. Crowd chants "Welcome back!" to which Sandman replies, "Damn, it feels good to be home!" Title match was a no-contest but the crowd went home extremely pleased seeing their hometown hero back in the old ECW Arena.

Pro Wrestling Unplugged owner Tod Gordon has just confirmed a major addition to both the PWU Main Roster as well as the September 15 Diamond 3rd Anniversary.

Long time Philadelphia based wrestler, Justice Pain, will be signing his PWU contract on The Red Carpet during the Pre Show Arrival ceremony beginning at 6pm in the back parking lot of The New Alhambra Arena.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com broke this major story today and said the following "From what I understand, he's expected to sign his official "PWU contract" during the show's "red carpet ceremony". He’ll be wrestling on the show and I wouldn't be shocked to see him accept former WWE star Gangrel's open challenge that night."

Justice Pain has quite the history with many key members of the PWU locker room including The BackSeat Boyz, Dewey Donovan, Z-Barr, Adam Flash and many more. It will be interesting to see how Pain fits in....who, if anyone will he befriend? What is the initial locker room reaction to this major player being signed? The kind folks at Pro Wrestling Unplugged are offering the readers of Combat-Hooligans.com one free pair of general admission tickets to their upcoming "Diamond Anniversary" & "Red Carpet" events on September 15th at the New Alhambra Arena (Viking Hall for you old-school fans) at 7 Ritner (Ritner & Swanson Streets) in Philadelphia, PA.

All you need to do is email your name to contests@combat-hooligans.com by Monday, September 10th. We will draw a name from the entries to pick a winner.

The only qualification for this contest is that you are from the local Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey area in order to win the tickets, I'd love to give them to anyone who's also willing to travel a long distance but in order to insure the person who wins can actually attend the show I must enforce this, apologies in advance to those outside the local area.
