Frank Trigg to possibly join WEC and fight Paulo Filho in December?

Send News

According to George Garcia who is Trigg's Tagg Radio partner Trigg is in negotiations to join the Zuffa owned World Xtreme Cagefighting.

5 Ounces of Pain's Sam Caplan noted that Zuffa was unhappy with Trigg for his anti-UFC comments made on Pride telecasts which aired on Fox Sports Net. Apparently, Trigg met with Zuffa officials and explained that he was just following orders and while it didn't work at first, those officials have warmed to his position.

A potential Filho-Trigg bout would be a boost for an already strong Dec. 12 card which features the WEC Featherweight title bout between Jeff Curran and Urijah Faber as well as the WEC Featherweight debut of Jens Pulver in a bout with Cub Swanson which was to take place at WEC 30 before Pulver suffered a knee injury.

More on this when it develops.

WEC signs undefeated Welterweight

Send News

Todd Moore who fights for Ring of Combat and has a 9-0 record has reportedly signed a 4-fight deal with World Extreme Cagefighting. It is possible Moore could make his WEC debut on the promotion's Dec. 12 show on Versus.

With Moore and the possible migration of Chris Lytle from the UFC it appears that the WEC is trying to strengthen its Welterweight division. Beyond champion Carlos Condit and his recently defeated challenger Brock Larson there's just not a lot out there.

The dec. 12 show is to be headlined by a Featherweight title fight between Jeff Curran and champion Urijah Faber. Jens Pulver is also expected to make his WEC debut that night in another featherweight bout against Cub Swanson.
