Basically, the question was, is Ric a Poochie, yes or no.

  1. true 1 (16%)
  2. completely true 0 (0%)
  3. definitely true 0 (0%)
  4. Ungodly true 4 (66%)
  5. Totally true 1 (16%)

Strange that nobody voted for false.

Anyway, simple new question, best of the major October shows. Get to going.

Send News and Event Results

We hit 3 months on Monday and asked you for our quarter grade. Only 6 voted but:

A's 4 for 66%
B's 2 for 33%
C's, D's and F's all 0 for 0%.

I can live with this.

Next poll, no idea.

Site Poll: The verdict on Couture

Send News and Event Results

What are your thoughts on Randy Couture's departure from the UFC?

  • It was a grab for more cash, he deserves more cash and he handled his departure the right way. 3 (30%)
  • It was a grab for cash, he doesn't deserve more cash, he handled his departure the wrong way. 0 (0%)
  • It wasn't about money at all, he just wants to fight Fedor Emelianenko. 0 (0%)
  • I'm sad he's not fighting anymore, but I won't miss his commentating. 0 (0%)
  • I will miss seeing him fight but wish he were still a comentator. 0 (0%)
  • If he can't be happy with $250,000 a fight, then I don't care if he spends the rest of his life making straight to DVD movies nobody will watch. 1 (10%)
  • I love Randy, don't really care for Dana, so I enjoy watching Randy put the screws to him. 6 (60%)

Honestly, our sample is small, but I think it isn't too far off the mark from how the public as a whole feels about this situation.

Our new poll will be for some general site purposes and is your chance to assess our work.

Site Poll: Our Halloween Costumes

Send News and Event Results

A revealing site poll has been concluded, asking which of 2 choices for Halloween costume for each staff member would be most appropriate.

    • Casey/Emperor Palpetine - He's a tirant and a slave driver!: 2 (20%)
    • Casey/SNM gear demonstrator - Anyone who covers Bound for Glory must like it rough: 4 (40%)

I'll bet Art and Euan voted for the first choice and everyone else voted for the other. Oh, and never let it be said I can't take shots at myself...SNM gear demonstrater, baby!

    • Art Shimko/Drug Dealer - He's already got the outfit: 1 (10%)
    • Art Shimko/guy who reviews DVDs - just to see if it can be done: 5 (50%)

Art, I think the public is giving you a not so subtile hint here.

    • Ric Gillespie/3 toed transexual - then he would have to wear the work clothes out in public: 5 (50%)
    • Ric Gillespie/Ric Gillespie's biggest fan - so we could see what a fan of Ric's would look like: 4 (40%)

Why was Ric the most popular person to vote on in the site poll? I guess that proves that internet popularity and real life popularity aren't the same thing.

    • Euan Taylor/Klansman - We've listened to the audio show, it fits: 6 (60%)
    • Euan Taylor/Mustard inspector - What would that look like anyway?: 1 (10%)

I guess people do listen to the show.

    • Mark Danger/Jar of mustard - He wants to go trick-or-treating at Euan's house: 5 (50%)
    • Mark Danger/Randy Orton - He wants to go trick-or-treating at Ric's house: 3 (30%)

Euan is buying extra deadbolts right now.

Well, that's it for this. Art and I are the most visible site members in that our names are seen on a vast majority of the buylines but yet Mark, Ric and Euan all got more response than us. I don't want to say there were Florida like happenings to explain this, but for the 3 of you...it doesn't mean shit.

Next up, a pretty straight forward question.

Site Poll: Appropriate Halloween costumes for the C-H.com staff

Memo to the staff, you can't vote for your own costume, only the ones for your fellow co-workers.

Each of 5 staff members has 2 costume choices listed, and you have to pick between the 2 as which is the most appropriate.

Wade, you can take some revenge for the HG poll.

Site Poll: Should staff member Wade Wallenstein dress up as Razor Ramon Hard Gay for Halloween?

Send News

This poll proved more popular than I thought, I figured only the staff would have opinions, but that was clearly not the case.

Sadly, Wade is not legally bound to do whatever the poll says but if he does dress up as HG, he has us to thank.

The results...

  1. Yes: It would be Fuuuuuuuuuu~!ing hallarious, oooooookay!! 3 (21%)
  2. Yes: Hey, I live far enough away that I wouldn't have to worry about him trick-or-treating at my door 7 (50%)
  3. No: I live close enough that he might come trick-or-treating at my door 0 (0%)
  4. Yes: I am an eye doctor and could make money off the histerical blindness 0 (0%)
  5. No: We like Wade and would not wish to see him humiliated in this way. 0 (0%)
  6. No: We like HG and would not like to see him humiliated in this regard 4 (28%)
  7. No: Wade is scary enough that he doesn't need a costume 0 (0%)
  8. Couldn't you have asked a John Cena question instead? 0 (0%)

Well Wade, now you know where you stand. The only people who said "no" only did so because of the humiliation it would cause HG himself.

Speaking of knowing where people stand, that leads us to our next question which deals with The Ultimate Fighter?

Site News: The Most anticipated card of October...

Send News

It was a close one, but in a narrow victory, WWE 'No Mercy' defeats UFC 77 'Hostile Territory'. I wonder if No Mercy would've won had John Cena not been injured and had the first new WWE champion in a year been less than the guarantee it is now. Perhaps, it also was victorious because of the Save_US_222 deal and the potential for Jericho to return. Plus, UFC 77 isn't the sexiest card. Bound for Glory is screwed, and Cyber Sunday also got no votes but in fairness to that show, it isn't like there is a card already. ShoXC got one vote and it wasn't mine though I am going to cover it.

The results...

  1. WWE 'No Mercy': 6 (50%)
  2. TNA Wrestling's 'Bound for Glory': 0 (0%)
  3. UFC 77 'Hostile Territory': 5 (41%)
  4. ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series: 1 (8%)
  5. WWE 'Cyber Sunday': 0 (0%)

The next poll question is halloween themed but will only run for a few days.

The question, should Wade dress up as Razor Ramon HG for Halloween?

The hours are ticking down in our site poll for what you'd like to see more of on combat-hooligans.com. Right now "other" is in a commanding lead. Of course nobody has mentioned what "other" is to them, but that's ok because we can think of something. Sure our definition of other might involve Ric, Euan and jugs of mustard but nobody has said that's not what they want.

Expect a new poll, eventually.

Site News: Pride Review, new writers, top 5 rankings

Send News

A couple of quick site notes.

First, the rest of my Pride 2000 GP Review. Its coming but it may not be before the end of this week. I've been busier than anticipated the past couple of days and could be out of town on Saturday. I promise I will finish it though.

Next up, we're going to be debuting some new writers very shortly. The first of which is Mark Danger who regularly is in our predictions contest and was a guest on our audio show this week, which will be uploaded whenever Euan gets around to it I guess.
He'll be doing some Danger-style wrestling news updates so I hope you'll enjoy those.

The next writer I've asked to introduce himself.

My name is Erik Anderson, i currently live in Spokane, Washington but will be moving to the east coast to start referee training at slamtech university.
I am 24 years old and am currently attending college. I have been watching wrestling for about 20 years and have been reading about the inside happenings
of the business since 2001. I hope to work in the wrestling business after college as a script writer and referee. I have written columns for various
wrestling websites along with doing a radio show for WrestlingRadioNetwork.com where i interviewed wrestlers over the phone. I am also in a band called
Flee The Century and we tour around the united states quite a bit.

Erik will be doing TV recaps and contributing other wrestling content, and we're going to look at some audio stuff in the future.

Lastly, the top 5 rankings I promised for tomorrow. I'm not going to say you won't see them tomorrow as I had said but it is a possibility. I intend to debut 1 weight class a week over 5 weeks but we'll see. I want this to be as thorough as I can by my way of explaining why each person is in my top 5. Yes, these are subjective rankings but all rankings are subjective by nature.

Lastly, I want to reittorate what Art said earlier. Please, if you vote in our poll and vote for "other" let us know what you mean by other. We want this to be your destination for all things combat sports and value imput from you on what we can do differently/better/more of. If you don't tell us what you want to see, how can you expect us to enact it?
