MulitChannel News reports that the year-plus long negotiations between HBO and UFC broke down after both parties came to a conclusion that the business model set up wasn't copasetic with either side.
“You never know what the future holds," said HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg. "We have enormous respect and admiration for the executives we dealt with at the UFC. We wish them well.”
Lots of communication was made between HBO and UFC within the last two months leaving UFC president Dana White confident enough to say that a deal would be made by the end of this year for the cable giant to air UFC live events to its 28 million subscribers.
This deal could be a positive for Spike TV, the home of UFC's The Ultimate Fighter reality series and various live and taped fighting events, as they are looking to extend their deal with UFC which expires in 2008.
