On Saturday, November 10, the ultimate icon of mixed martial arts and former UFC champion Tito Ortiz will be coaching a seminar from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
. in the Enoch Ballroom at the River Cree Resort and Casino. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for MMA athletes of all ages as they will receive
hands-on, close-encounter guidance from one of the sport’s most colourful and accomplished fighters.

The cost of the seminar is only $100 plus a $10 registration fee – a fantastic deal for this special opportunity.

The Ortiz seminar will be the highlight of an awesome day for the MFC and the River Cree Resort. Following the seminar, the action moves into the Casino
for the Maximum Fighting Championship’s 3rd Celebrity Poker Tournament which will include Alberta’s own UFC superstar Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald, MFC
stars Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford and Ryan “The Kid” McGillivray, members of the Edmonton Oilers, and other sports and media personalities.

The poker tournament begins at 5 p.m. and the proceeds go to the MFC’s charity of choice, Child Find Alberta.

But the night doesn’t end with the last hand dealt. All the participants in the seminar plus other special guests will be at the spectacular after-party
at the Touch Ultra Lounge inside the River Cree Resort and Casino.

Henderson talks potential fight with Ortiz, UFC cutbacks and his UFC status

In his latest MMANotebook the Houston Chronicle’s Steve Sivert has comments from UFC Light Heavyweight fighter and Pride Middleweight champion Dan Henderson.

Henderson on UFC making cutbacks and fighters being unhappy with it…

"It seems like guys could be happier," Henderson said. "Part of the problem is that they had a couple, three bad shows and got killed in Ireland (at UFC 72) on the money. And, possibly the fact that they spent a boatload of money buying Pride and didn't do anything with it; they are trying to make some cutbacks, and the fighters aren't overly happy about that."

Henderson is working under the terms of his Pride contract and that has one fight left on it. Sievert has the following on that…

Despite assurances from White that he would be taken care of in the UFC, Henderson is waiting for what he thinks is an equitable offer.

"He was telling me that, 'We haven't had guys leaving. We take care of the guys, that's why they're happy. We don't want guys that are unhappy,' " Henderson said about initial negotiations with White. "I haven't seen that."

But, in a supplimental feature on the Brawl Sports Blog, Sievert has more comments from Henderson, this time as it relates to a potential fight with Tito Ortiz.

"It's not the fight that I'd ask for. Beating Tito won't get me a rematch (with light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson). I don't think he's top five
(in the 205-lb. division). I'd have to beat at least a top three guy to get the rematch."

While Henderson isn’t opposed to an eventual Tito fight, the fight he wants most is a rematch with Quinton Jackson, whom Henderson feels he defeated in their UFC 75 bout.

"Usually I'm not big on rematches right away, but I felt that one was so close - it could have went either way - and I know in my heart there's no way I'd lose to him again, so, of course, I want a rematch."

Tito Ortiz says he's re-signing with the UFC

The important passage:

“I’ll be re-signing with the UFC and they gave me what I want. I know a lot of other companies that are asking about me and I can’t count how many phone calls I’ve said “I can’t talk to you guys anymore,” because it’s against my contract. I’ve got guys literally who have called me and they’ve said, “Is this Tito?” And I’ve said, “Yes.” And they’ll say, “This is so and so.” And I’ll have to stop them right there and tell them, “Oh, let me stop you there. I can’t talk to you no more.”

Bouts for UFC 78

I mentioned the other day that on Inside the Cage Radio with Matt Cava of UFC Takedown and Sam Caplan of Five Ounces of Pain Frankie Edgar confirmed a fight for UFC 78 with Spencer Fisher. That should be a fun bout in front of a hometown crowd for Edgar.

We've got more bouts for the 11/17 card in Newark, New Jersey.
