MONDAY NIGHT RAW: 8/20/07 IN FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

THE BIG NEWS: Nothing important happened at all. Wait, I guess Vince Mcmahon has a male wrestler on the current Raw brand roster as a son. Ok, I said it.


The show starts out with Randy Orton in the ring showing a recap of Saturday nights main event on the big screen and how he destroyed John Cena. Orton
wants Cena to forfeit the title. At this time, Vince Mcmahon makes his way to the ring to talk about the fact that his child is now confirmed to be a
male. I was just as confused as the rest of the viewers about Mcmahon’s logic on doing this during Orton’s main event promo. Cena makes his way out
and confronts Mcmahon. Some back and forth talk and Cena slaps Mcmahon in the face. Mcmahon makes his way back ordering Cena to face the undefeated Snitsky
later in the show. Side note: I guess Snitsky with long hair had a win/loss record in the WWE that all of a sudden didn’t count. I knew from this moment
on that I was in for a dreadful Raw.

Mickie James and Candace Michelle vs. Beth Phoenix and Melina

Suplex to start the match by Beth Phoenix on Mickie James. Candice with a northern lights suplex on Melina into a cradle for the pin. That was that.

Backstage with Santino making fun of Regal, Booker talking about how he will ruin Triple H’s party (ha ha), and Mcmahon telling coach what he is looking
for in a son. I could have done without all of these skits.

Cody Rhodes vs. Shelton Benjamin

Rhodes starts the match on the offensive with punches, a couple of drop kicks, and a bulldog for a two count. Benjamin with a nice back breaker on Rhodes.
Rhodes ended up rolling Benjamin up for a cheap victory. Haas and Benjamin beat down Rhodes after the match. This was another nothing match to go along
with the diva match up.

Murdock and Cade vs. Kendrick and London

Match starts with a series of arm drags and close lines. During the whole match, Jim Ross felt the need to compare Kendrick and London to the rock n’
roll express which I have a slight problem with since I consider Ricky Morton to be a hall of fame caliber wrestler. Double dropkicks, suicide dive to
the outside making this the most exciting part of the show thus far. Cryme Tyme comes out with the microphone and begins trying to sell Murdocks hat
to fans in the crowd. At this point Cade gets distracted and pinned by a cradle in a weird way as it appeared that he actually kicked out of it. Pretty
bad.

Ron Simmons is on a date with Maria and keeps rhyming everything he says with Damn. Very funny I must say. Santino shows up with Jillian and sits down
at the dinner table. Simmons becomes frustrated. Ends with Santino getting a plate of food thrown on him by Simmons.

King booker is out to cut a promo on Jerome. He also says that Triple H needs to come out to the ring and crown booker. An imposter Triple H comes to
the ring and crowns King Booker and leaves. Booker then cuts a promo on “James” and Sharmell makes him kiss his ring. Booker is great in this role but
it is getting very tiresome.

Carlito’s Cabana is next and his guest is Umaga. Umaga comes to the ring while Carlito badgers him about getting a title shot. This brings out Kennedy
who also demands a title show. Boring! Umaga tears the ring up and Regal comes out to make a number 1 contenders match for the title between Kennedy
and Carlito.

Kennedy vs. Carlito

Horrible first 3 minutes of the match. So bad that I really don’t want to go through the moves and holds being performed here. Carlito and Kennedy go
back and forth very sloppily with a lot of no selling. J.R builds the match up even though he has to know that this match was heading nowhere from the
beginning. Carlito sent into the ring post. Punches to Carlito followed by a big kick on the steps to the Carlito’s chest. After the commercial, there
Is more punches and ends with a superplex into a double small package for a draw. Ouch.

Santino threatens Simmons at the dinner table. He is really good here. Hmmm…if only he could wrestle.

Vince is talking to Snitsky backstage in a very late 1980’s type of promo. Snitsky says that he will show no remorse on Cena. 0 Viewers believe that Snitsky
is going to pin Cena for the victory.

John Cena vs. Snitsky

Snitsky on the offensive with punches and a devastating close line to start the match. Cena makes a comeback but Snitsky gets him with an arm drag. Before
we know it, Cena has Snitsky in the FU when Orton comes in as predicted and breaks it up for the DQ. He rko’s cena and holds the belt on the side of
the ring. End of show

FINAL THOUGHTS:

This was a terrible way to head into Summerslam. Nobody believes that Orton will take the title from Cena and the other matches have little to no build
to them at all. This was one of the more bad Raw’s this year and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. Santino and Simmons were the slight bright spot.
