Statement from NCW concerning confusion over Ruckus and November 3rd

Send News and Event Results

First off, I wish to apologize to Gabe Saposky and Ring Of Honor for what was obviously a situation created because of what I am about to post here. But
I wish to make clear that neither ROH nor Gabe Saposky was at fault for any of this.

Ok, if you want to see Ruckus wrestle on November 3rd, you’ll be going to Ring Of Honor in Manhattan to see him. Ruckus is NOT on my show. He is wrestling
for Ring Of Honor, not National Championship Wrestling.

Here is the story, on October 14th I called Ruckus to see if he was available on November 3rd. Ruckus told me that day that he was. I even asked him
if he was working for Gabe (ROH) that night and he said no. We discussed everything and as far as I was concerned, Ruckus was clear to come wrestle for
me in York, Pennsylvania.

2 Hours later, on a hunch, I checked ROH’s website myself and saw that Ruckus was announced on the site as wrestling for ROH in Manhattan that night.
I called Ruckus and told him this and he seemed surprised. Wrestlers occasionally forget dates or get them confused, and I was willing to just go on.
Ruckus told me he would talk to Gabe about 11/3 and get back to me.

Ruckus contacted me a few days later and confirmed that he was clear and even said Gabe was fine with him wrestling for my show and not ROH. Therefore,
I sent out the press release and everything and added him to my lineup.

None of this happened. Gabe was never contacted and had no idea this was going on. I have spoken to Gabe via e-mail and Ruckus is NOT free to work for
me and is working for ROH. I will find someone else to face Adam Flash for the NCW Championship on November 3rd, and I will move on.

Ring of Honor
October 5, 2007- 8:00pm belltime
Roxbury Community College
Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center
1350 Tremont Street

RESULTS

Preshow

1) Bryan Fury defeats Alex "Sugarfoot" Payne.

2) Handsome Johnny defeats Rhett Titus with a roundhouse kick.

Main Show

1) The Hangmen's Three of Brent Albright & Adam Pearce defeat The Resilience of Erick Stevens & Matt Cross when Albright pinned Stevens with a half nelson suplex in an OK opener.

2) BJ Whitmer defeats Delirious with a tombstone piledriver. A few hecklers in the crowd were getting on BJ chanting "Mr. Kennedy" at him. After the match Delirious nailed Hagadorn with a chair throw.

~The Age of the Fall cut a promo and was ambushed by Jay Briscoe. They brawled out and to the back.

3) Nigel McGuinness defeats Hallowicked, Tyler Black, and El Generico with the Tower of London on Hallowicked. Crowd is super hot, especially for Generico and Nigel.

~About 15 minutes of prematch mic work prior to Hero/Claudio. Hero announced that the word "f***" would be barred from the match, so a "f***" chant went up.

4) Claudio Castagnoli defeats Chris Hero with a European Uppercut.

~Jay Briscoe and Necro Butcher brawl back out in to the crowd. Jay gets 12 or so chairs piled on him and body slammed on to one. They fight back in to the ring.

5) Necro Butcher of The Age of the Fall defeats Jay Briscoe with a sidewalk slam through a chair in a totally freaking insane match. Mark came out on crutches and tossed Jay a chair but Butcher nailed him with one of his own. After the match Mark was carried off by the Age of the Fall. Jay cut a short promo and got in the face of some fan wearing a bandana. Nearly came to blows.

6) Age Of The Fall squash Mitch Franklin & Ernie Osiris. Mitch took a running powerbomb in to the rail then a double finisher in the ring. Jay Briscoe ran out after them but the AotF escaped.

7) Austin Aries defeats Bryan Danielson via submission in a very even and very very good match. Aries was the slightly more over of the two. MOTN thus far.

8) Jack Evans, Ruckus, & Jigsaw defeat Roderick Strong, Rocky Romero, and Davey Richards when Jack hit the 630 on Romero. Tons of spots here, with everyone hitting dives and finishers. The most over match tonight thus far.

9) Takeshi Morishima defeats Kevin Steen to retain the ROH World Championship. High impact slugfest of a match dominated by Steen for the most part. Steen busted out a sharpshooter that the crowd went nuts for. Generico came out to ringside to encourage Steen, but Steen poured a water bottle on him and Generico left. Morishima hit the backdrop driver to retain.

2) Daizee Haze defeats Sara Del Rey with a rollup scoring the upset.

~Sweet N' Sour Inc. out to the ring to cut a promo, but is cut off by Dragon. Danielson challenges Hero, and the match is ON!

3) Bryan Danielson defeats Chris Hero via ref stoppage after Dragon continuously kicked Hero's head in with boots.

~Adam Pearce comes to the ring and calls out Kevin Steen. Pearce asks Steen to join the Hangmen's Three, and they carry out an unconscious El Generico. They demand Steen attacks Generico. Steen ponders it, then attacks the Hangmen's Three. Delirious enters, and the six man tag is on.

5) Austin Aries defeats Roderick Strong with a brainbuster through a table and a 450 splash.

6) NIGEL MCGUINNESS DEFEATS TAKESHI MORISHIMA WITH A JAWBREAKER LARIAT TO BECOME THE 10TH RING OF HONOR WORLD CHAMPION!!!!

~INTERMISSION~

7) Claudio Castagnoli defeats Jigsaw with a European Uppercut.

8) The No Remorse Corp of Rocky Romero & Davey Richards defeats The Resilience of Matt Cross & Erick Stevens when Romero pins Cross sending him out of ROH for 60 days. After the match the NRC destroyed the arm of Erick Stevens.

Here is what the fans and critics are saying about the "Driven" PPV:

"Ring of Honor's Driven pay-per-view was both a great wrestling show and something of relief for anyone worn down from the steady stream of either lackluster (WWE) or aggravatingly awful (TNA) pay-per-views the so-called major companies have ponied up lately." - Bruce Mitchell in the 10/6/07 Pro Wrestling Torch

"I couldn't make a very strong argument that the first PPV was better than this one, but both shows were more than worth the $15....It's refreshing to see tag team wrestling mean something tangible on my television." - James Caldwell @PWTorch.com

"I felt like I was watching old NWA from the late 80's with cutting edge wrestling maneuvers. For the first time, since well, Great American Bash when Sting beat Flair the first time, I did not get ripped off on a Pay Per View. Maybe it's just super excitement over all these new fresh characters...." - William Hatfield @PWTorch.com

"This was the first time I've ever seen ROH wrestling and let me say WOW!! This made me flashback to the early days of ECW with the crowd boiling hot and the wrestlers busting their asses for the fans." - Charles Grasho @PWTorch.com

"Unreal pay per view. Love how they are carrying storylines directly from PPV to PPV. It makes it easy for the casual fan to follow everything that is going on."- Hughesmiester @PWTorch.com

"Nigel vs Dragon was as good as advertised....This match had state of the art mat wrestling and submissions, hard hitting strikes, and even some high flying thrown in. This is what a pro wrestling respectful rivalry should be all about." - Jason Detrick @PWTorch.com

"...after seeing the recent WWE and TNA television and PPV offerings, it only took five minutes into the first match (of "Driven") where you felt you were getting a product that blows away the big leagues of U.S. wrestling...those who do see it, unless you are so indoctrinated into a different style that you can't accept new stuff, it'll be awfully hard not to like this show a lot....It has significantly better wrestling than TNA minus the headache inducing booking...." - Dave Meltzer - September 26th edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

"I said Respect is Earned was the third best PPV behind Backlash and WrestleMania, but Driven leaves them all behind, and by a substantial margin." - J.D. Dunn at 411mania.com (http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/tv_reports/60285/The-ROHport:-Ring-of-Honor-—-Driven.htm)

"Danielson vs. Nigel is as good as pro wrestling gets in today's generation. If you have given up on old school wrestling, believing that genre is dead forever, you might want to give this PPV an order. All you have to lose is $10 but I honestly believe you'll get ten times that amount in athletic wrestling action. Complete thumbs up. Order this show as soon as you can." - Mike Johnson at PWInsider.com (http://www.pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=26660&p=1)

"(10.0) You must buy this PPV and watch it. If you’ve never given ROH a shot, they deserve your money for this show. It is the best PPV I’ve seen since “One Night Stand” in 2005. This was simply an amazing show from top to bottom. The McGuinness-Danielson matches is one of those matches I’ll go back and watch from time to time as the years go by, as it will never get old watching the masterpiece they put on in front of a rabid crowd in Philadelphia where ROH was born." - Sean Radican at PWTorch.com (http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/PPV_Reports_5/article_22895.shtml)

"Great show top to bottom, and Nigel vs. Danielson is right up with Cena vs. Umaga and Cena vs. HBK for best matches of the year, with the crowd in a fucking frenzy in the closing minutes. For just $10 or $15, it's a ****ing steal. There was also a hot opener, good storyline development, and some solid tag team wrestling between the Briscoes and Steen/Generico." - Rick Cobos @wrestlingobserver.com

"This was my first PPV purchase since an early ECW PPV in the mid-90's and I must say I was impressed. Having abandoned wrestling for many years, I tuned back in to find WWE and TNA to be basically unwatchable. It's good to know that there is still top quality wrestling out there somewhere." - Randy Ray @ wrestlingobserver.com

"Now this is what a wrestling show should be. Never a dull moment in this show, and even had me, the jaded wrestling fan that I am outright clapping at my screen for the first time since the Benoit tragedy." - Ben Kugel @pwtorch.com

"People who say there is nothing good to watch need to check this out. ROH is currently the saving grace of North American pro wrestling." - Dave Musgrave @wrestlingobserver.com

"If I'm coming off as an overexcited fanboy, it's probably because I've become one of ROH. I ordered this PPV off Dish Network the other day ago because I've had enough of the mainstream product (I've mentioned such in previous feedbacks). I figured, it's ten bucks, I've heard a ton of good things and the Youtube videos impressed me with what they had so far so I'd give it a shot and damn, am I glad I did." - Ern Smith @pwtorch.com

"A great PPV. I watched this at my friend's house, because I have DirectTV. Despite her intentions to putter around (she's not a wrestling fan), she watched the whole show and came away impressed. Top to bottom,. this was one of the best shows of the the year. I was blown away by the main event, but I also loved the Claudio/Sydal match, the opener and the Tag Title match." - Ryan Callahan @wrestlingobserver.com

"I ordered The PPV last night and HOLY CRAP!!! THE SHOW WAS AMAZINGLY AWESOME" - Nate McAtee @wrestlingobserver.com

"A massive thumbs up. This was my first ROH show, and they put on a classic, memorable pay-per-view with an amazing, Budokan-hall level main event. This puts all other wrestling PPVs of 2007 (and other years, for that matter) to shame, and if you call yourself a pro wrestling fan you should get this at once." - Dan Nell @wrestlingobserver.com

"This was easily the best ppv I've seen since Vengeance 2005. I liked it light years more than Respect Is Earned cause everything seemed to have more meaning on it....Overall, a phenominal show. I urge everyone to check it out whether you're a hardcore fan or someone who is fed up with the crap on tv cause this show, absolutely blew away anything TNA & WWE has done in years." - Todd J. Packard @wrestlingobserver.com

"The quality of the first 6 matches became unimportant after watching the main event because Bryan and Nigel put on a clinic, easily making the PPV worth the $14.95 price." - Jeff Beecher @wrestlingobserver.com

The fans and critics have spoken. We can't make that stuff up. Now witness "Driven" for yourself before it is too late!!!

Ring of Honor: September 19th Newswire

Send News

September 19th: The new ROH Video Wire will be up later today or on Thursday for free at ROHvideos.com. ROH officials are still debating exactly what to show from the gory incident where The Age Of The Fall made their debut to attack ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe. This incident went way over the line and is not the kind of product ROH strives to present. However, it is a historical happening that is changing the course of ROH so it should be made available to the fans. Nothing like this has ever been seen before. Witness what everyone is talking about in the next ROH Video Wire at ROHvideos.com.

September 19th: As you will see from a passionate promo by The Briscoes in the next ROH Video Wire, Jay & Mark don't want to wait to fight The Age Of The Fall of Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black & Necro Butcher with Lacey. They won't have to because the first match between these two teams will take place on 10/5 in Boston. It will be a non-title match since The Age Of The Fall have never even won a match in ROH. ROH officials will not reward them with an immediate title shot. The Briscoes say that is fine with them because now they can just focus on the fight in Boston. Jay & Mark want all the fans in Boston to know that if they thought that last time was crazy against Kevin Steen & El Generico, wait until you see what happens on 10/5. There are still great 2nd row seats available at ROHwrestling.com.

September 19th: ROH is really loading up the October 5th Boston event at the conveniently located Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in the heart of Boston on Tremont St. and just seconds from the MBTA. Two of ROH's aces have sent challenges to each other to see who is the best. It is one of ROH's longest running rivalries and it is back on in Boston. October 5th will witness wrestling at its best when Bryan Danielson takes on Austin Aries!!! It doesn't get any better than this. We have an updated lineup for Boston below.

September 19th: The buy 3, get 1 free sale on all ROH DVDs lasts until Thursday night at ROHwrestling.com. This includes all ROH shows, Best Ofs, Straight Shootin' and Secrets Of The Ring titles. It also includes new DVDs including the two night "Race To The Top Tournament" from Long Island and Edison. Check out these two DVDs as 16 of the best battle in a single elimination tourney to see who will take a spot at the top of the card. "Race To The Top Tournament: Night 1" features the entire first round including BJ Whitmer vs. Pelle Primeau, Davey Richards vs. Jigsaw, Claudio Castagnoli vs. Hallowicked, Matt Sydal vs. Mike Quackenbush, Erick Stevens vs. Chris Hero, Delirious vs. El Generico, Brent Albright vs. Matt Cross and Jack Evans vs. Kevin Steen. Plus, Roderick Strong defends the FIP World Heavyweight Title in a Four Way Fray vs. Austin Aries vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Gran Akuma and The Briscoes put the World Tag Titles on the line in a PPV quality bout vs. Bryan Danielson & Nigel McGuinness. "Race To The Top Tournament: Night 2" features the second round, semifinals and much talked about finals. Night 2 also has the $10,000 Tag Team Challenge and Six Man Mayhem action. Check out lots of fresh match ups and quality action on these two huge shows. Get them now at www.ROHwrestling.com as part of the buy 3, get 1 free sale!!!

2) Rocky Romero defeats Matt Cross with a hard kick to the head.

~Roderick Strong vs Austin Aries is set to happen next, but Strong backs out. Instead Austin Aries will face Davey Richards.

3) Austin Aries defeats Davey Richards. Richards used a ton of headbutts, german suplexes, and a crossface. Acting very Benoit, as was reported in Manhattan. Aries wins with a 450.

4) Roderick Strong defeats Erick Stevens with a Gibson Driver to give the NRC a 2-1 victory. AWESOME match, and a total stiff chop fest. Strong was bleeding from the chest.

5) ROH World Championship: Takeshi Morishima retains the ROH World Championship over Bryan Danielson via ref stoppage. Morishima continued pummeling Danielson's eye until the referee stopped the match.

6) ROH World Tag Team Championship Ladder Match: The Briscoes retain the ROH Tag Tam Championships in what was described as "The greatest match I've ever seen in my life. Too many spots to name. Package piledriver on a ladder as well as a Jay Driller. Jay pulled down the belts."

~After the match The Briscoes are attacked by Tyler Black, Jimmy Jacobs, and NECRO BUTCHER! Jay is hogtied to the apparatus that held up the belts, and lifted 10 feet in the air bleeding. Jimmy stands under him cutting a promo getting covered in blood. Jimmy opened his mouth and drank his blood.

~INTERMISSION~

7) Mitch Franklin defeats Alex Payne.

8) Amazing Kong & Daizee Haze defeat Sara Del Rey & Lacey when Daizee pins Lacey.

9) BJ Whitmer & Brent Albright mauled The YRR of Chasyn Rance & Kenny King. YRR got squashed.

~The stable of Adam Pearce, Brent Albright, & BJ Whitmer is the "Hangman 3". Some in the crowd chanted "No More Stables!"

10) Tyler Black vs Jack Evans went to a no contest when the Age of the Fall interfered via Necro throwing a chair at Jack. The match was then made a 6 man with Irish Airborne being added. The match again ended in a no contest when Necro Butcher knocked out the referee. Wild ass brawl.

11) Delirious defeats Matt Sydal in a good (not great) match to end the show in a little over 20 minutes. Fans chanted "Thank you Sydal".

SHIMMER PROFILED IN THE PWI 500!
----------------------------------------------------------

Pro Wrestling Illustrated devoted six pages of this year's edition of the PWI 500 issue of the magazine to profiling SHIMMER! Several of photographer George Tahinos's shots from the June 1st & 2nd weekend of tapings will appear along with the article's text. The issue goes on sale officially on September 25th, but can already be found on some shelves.

You can read the text of the article on PWI's web site, at the following link...

http://www.pwi-online.com/pages/readastoryright1.html

We couldn't have hoped to be included in a higher profile edition of PWI than the 500. A big thank you to everyone at Pro Wrestling Illustrated for helping spread the word about SHIMMER to wrestling fans everywhere!

SARA DEL REY TO BATTLE AMAZING KONG ON OCT. 13TH!

Reigning SHIMMER Champion "American Angel" Sara Del Rey emerged victorious in the 16 woman single elimination title tournament during the month of June, but there was one glaring omission from the tournament field that weekend. Due to prior commitments that weekend in Japan, the international phenom Amazing Kong did not stand in Sara's way of being crowned the first SHIMMER Champion.

Though Del Rey was able to walk away from Berwyn with the gold, she knew in the back of her mind that the very intimidating, undefeated monster would return to SHIMMER with one thing in mind, and that is taking the SHIMMER title off the waist of the American Angel.

On Saturday, October 13th, Amazing Kong returns to SHIMMER competition, and will step in the ring to do battle, one-on-one, with Sara Del Rey as part of the Volumes 14 & 15 taping at the Eagles Club in Berwyn, IL! If Del Rey is still SHIMMER Champion come 10/13, the bout will be for the belt.

Sara has stated that she is out to prove that she truly is deserving of the title and is the best woman wrestler in the world, and she will take on any and all challengers in the process. What will happen when Kong and Del Rey mix it up for the first time in a SHIMMER ring?! That question will be answered on October 13th!

Front row reserved seating for the October 13th SHIMMER taping is sold out. Some general admission tickets are still available at a cost of $15. We will only be selling 175 General Admission tickets for this taping, so that everyone who attends will be able to get seating (which became an issue back on April 7th when we ran out of chairs). Don't get shut out!

To secure your tickets right now, PayPal the correct dollar amount for the number of tickets you'd like to purchase ($15 each) to the DavePrazak@aol.com account, or use the PayPal buttons at the link below.

http://www.freewebs.com/shimmerwomen/tickets.html

We will also be accepting mail orders for tickets (check or money order). If you wish to purchase tickets via mail order, E-mail us at shimmernews@yahoo.com for instructions.

Mark your calendars, everybody... October 13th, SHIMMER is back in Berwyn!

August 30th: Bryan Danielson underwent laser eye surgery on Monday to repair his retina. He is scheduled to be out 4-6 weeks, but will have check ups every week to look at his progress. All signs from the surgery are positive and it is 90% that Danielson will regain his eyesight, although it might be blurred. We'll have more updates as soon as we get them. As a result, we don't want to false advertise Danielson for the 9/14 main event in Detroit in case he can't wrestle that night. Detroit will now have Jay & Mark Briscoe defend the ROH World Tag Team Titles against The Resilience of Austin Aries & Matt Cross. The Resilience have been on a hot streak and are gaining momentum. August 21st: It is not too late to get great seats to this weekend's events in Hartford and Manhattan. You can now save 20-25% on all tickets to both shows at ROHwrestling.com. It will be an important weekend for ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima. As detailed in the article on the main page of ROHwrestling.com, many feel that the now six month World Title reign is taking a toll on Morishima. Now Morishima is faced with his toughest weekend yet. He will defend the World Title in an Elimination Three-Way in Hartford against two men that almost beat him on "Death Before Dishonor" weekend in Claudio Castagnoli and Brent Albright. This will be the first three-way of Morishima's career and he could easily be caught off guard in Hartford. If Morishima makes it to Manhattan with the belt he will put it on the line against Bryan Danielson. This will be Danielson's first shot at the World Title since losing it last December. Danielson knows what it takes to win the belt and be a champion. He is hungry to win it back and be the first ever two time ROH World Champion. You can now get tickets for both shows and possibly see history for 20-25% off until Thursday morning at ROHwrestling.com.

August 21st: We finally have the first matches to announce for 9/14 "Motor City Madness 2007" back in Detroit. Bryan Danielson recently teamed with Nigel McGuinness to take on The Briscoes in a sensational match in Long Island. Danielson says he deserves a rematch with a new partner since McGuinness was pinned. The Briscoes were quick to accept. Danielson has once again selected an unlikely partner. Detroit will see two great rivals in Danielson and Austin Aries team up to take on The Briscoes. If Jay & Mark are still ROH World Tag Team Champions they will put the belts on the line. Danielson & Aries were on the winning team at the $10,000 Tag Team Challenge in July. Aries is still waiting for his share of the winnings from Danielson. Perhaps he will get it and the World Tag Team Titles in Detroit.

August 21st: Two grudge matches featuring No Remorse Corps members have been signed for 9/14 in Detroit. Rocky Romero gave Jack Evans a concussion and knocked him out of ROH last April. Now Evans will get a chance at revenge. It will be Evans vs. Romero in Detroit. Also signed for 9/14 is a NRC vs. Resilience first time singles match as Roderick Strong takes on Matt Cross. We'll have more to announce for this event including first time ever matches with ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima and Naomichi Marufuji next week in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire. Save 20-25% on all seats to ROH's last show of the year in Detroit now at ROHwrestling.com.

August 21st: Don't forget the 20-25% off everything sale at www.ROHwrestling.com ends Thursday morning. See The Briscoes taken to their most extreme by Necro Butcher & Mad Man Pondo on the newest FIP DVDs. Out now is FIP "Dangerous Intentions 2007" with Necro vs. Mark, Pondo vs. Jay, Roderick Strong vs. Davey Richards in an I Quit Match, Colt Cabana & Erick Stevens vs. Larry Sweeney & Claudio Castagnoli plus much more. The hardcore war between The Briscoes vs. Necro & Pondo continues on the FIP "In Full Force 2007" DVD, which also includes Strong vs. Richards in a 2/3 Falls Match; Cabana vs. Sweeney; Stevens vs. Gran Akuma; Jigsaw vs. Shingo plus much more. Check out these FIP titles for 20-25% off now at ROHwrestling.com to see the violent war pitting The Briscoes vs. Necro Butcher & Mad Man Pondo.
