Retro Recap: WWF Survivor Series 1995

Send News

Hello and welcome to the Retro Recap! I'm Rim Joss along with Lerry "Poo King" Jawler. We have the Far-Back machine on and have set it to November 19th, 1995. They chose the U.S. Air Arena in Landover, MD. Your commentators for this show are JR, Vince and Mr. Perfect and it is being presented by Milton-Bradleys' Rock'em Sock'em Karate Robots, I mean Karate Fighters.

Alo, I will not be doing much play-by-play. Instead, I will be typing up my memories of this period as well as rants now and then.

SS match-The Underdogs (Marty Jannetty, Barry Horowitz, Hakushi, Bob Holly) vs. The Body Donnas (Skip, Tom Pritchard Rad Radford and the 123 Kid). Bob Holly pins Pritchard then Skip comes in right away and pins Holly. Rad Radford grabs Hakushi's tights to pin him then Horowitz rolls up Radford. Kid gets a blind tag and pins Hororwitz then Marty hits a powerbomb off the top turnbuckle to pin Skip. Finish is Sid attacking Marty while the ref is distracted allowing Kid to get the pin.

Backstage now with Todd Pettingil who is talking to Owen Hart, Yokozuna, Jim Cornette, Mr. Fuji and Shane "Dean" Douglas. They all tell Razor Ramon to focus on his match.

SS match-Bertha Faye's team vs. Alundra Blazes' team. Alundra and Bertha both have 3 Japanese wrestlers with them. I can't pronounce (much less spell) the Japanese wrestler's names so I'm just gonna talk about the current state of the WWE Women's Division. The first word that comes ot mind is laughable. There was more talent in the this match combined than the current division which is sad. I've been reading results for WWE and the only ladies that do know how to wrestle well aren't even in a program for the title. It would be nice to see the Women's championship defended on both RAW and Smackdown but I doubt they'd ever do that. Aja Kong pins Alundra to win the match just as I'm done ranting.

We now have Todd Pettengil talking to a Bill Clinton impersonator.

"Bam Bam" Bigelow vs. Goldust. This was when Goldust first came around so he was a little more controversial. That and the fact that his original outfit was so different than it was at the end of his first run. It looks more like a yellow than a gold now but that might be due to the lighting in the arena and the age of the VHS tape I am watching it on. Finish is Goldust hitting a bulldog for the pin.

Back over to Todd Pettengil and Mr. Backlund. Backlund really hasn't changed much as you could tell if you watched his stint in TNA.

Video package of Undertaker/Mabel.

SS match-The Royals (Jerry "The King" Lawler, King Mabel, Isaac Yankem and HHH) vs. The Dark Side (Savio Vega, Henry Godwin, Fatu and The Undertaker). I think it's safe to say that Undertaker has had more "Returns" than anybody, not to mention more outfit and style changes. Speaking of changes, I forgot how different HHH looked back then. I do remember the Issac Yankem look as well as the *shudder* New Diesel look. Lawler is the first eliminated via a Tombstone from Undertaker, followed by Yankem also getting a Tombstone, then HHH getting chokeslammed and Mabel getting counted out.

Promos from Bret Hart and Diesel about their match tonight and the match against Bulldog at the following In Your House.

Todd Pettengil talking to Million Dollar Man's team.

SS "Wildcard" match-Yokozuna, Owen Hart, Dean Douglas and Razor Ramon vs. "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith, Sid Vicious, Ahmed Johnson and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. Shane Douglas had a forgettable stint in WWE in my opinion. HBK rolls up Dean Douglas after Ramon hits him. Sid's run in the WWE was pretty good. It's too bad he got that Vicious (pun intended) leg drop in WCW. Ramon pins Sid after Ramon ducks SCM. Ahmed hits the Pearl River Plunge on Owen for the pin and Ramon comes in right away. Kid distracts Ramon on the outside which allows Bulldog to hit the powerslam for the pin. Finish is Yokozuna getting body slammed, getting some SCM and getting splashed for Ahmed to get the win.

Todd is still with the Clinton impersonator who hits on Sunny and dumps popcorn down the top of her dress.

Video package for Bret/Diesel.

WWF Championship-Bret "Hitman" Hart vs. Diesel. I think this is 1 of the best championship matches in WWE history and not just because Bret Hart is in it. Nash was pretty good in `94 and `95 which helped make this match great. I especially love the finish where Bret rolls him up fast then Nash sits up and swears.

Thank you for taking time to read this. I plan on doing more Retro Recaps soon, so stay tuned!
