NSAC issues Fight Night 11 Medical suspensions

A good number of the fighters were suspended as a result of some big KO's and submissions.

  1. Din Thomas (first-round loss via rear-naked choke to Kenny Florian): minimum suspension until Oct. 20 with no contact in training until Oct. 11. Additionally,
    Thomas will need to have an MRI of his right knee and receive clearance from an orthopedic doctor; otherwise, his suspension will run until March 18, 2008.

  2. Chris Leben (third-round TKO of Terry Martin): Suspended until Oct. 20 with no contact until Oct. 11.

  3. Terry Martin (third-round TKO loss to Leben): Suspended until Nov. 19 with no contact until Nov. 4.

  4. Junior Assuncao (first-round loss via guillotine choke to Nate Diaz): Suspended until Oct. 20 with no contact until Oct. 11. Assuncao must have his right foot X-rayed and cleared by a doctor; otherwise, his suspension will run until March 18, 2008.

  5. Nate Quarry (third-round TKO of Pete Sell): Suspended until Oct. 20 with no contact until Oct. 11.

  6. Pete Sell (third-round TKO loss to Quarry): Suspended until Nov. 19 with no contact until Nov. 4. Sell must have his thumb cleared by a doctor; otherwise, his suspension will run until March 18, 2008.

  7. Edilberto Crocota (first-round TKO loss to Luke Cummo): Suspended until Nov. 4 with no contact until Oct. 20.

  8. Joe Veres (first-round TKO loss to Gray Maynard): Suspended until Oct. 20 with no contact until Oct. 11.

  9. Kuniyoshi Hironaka (second-round TKO loss to Thiago Alves): Suspended until Nov.
    4 with no contact until Oct. 20.

  10. Jonathan Goulet (first-round loss via verbal tapout to Dustin Hazelett): Suspended until Oct. 20 with no contact until Oct. 11. Goulet must have his elbow X-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor; otherwise, his suspension will run until March 18, 2008.

UFC confirms that Dustin Hazelett has been tabbed to replace Mike Swick against Jonathan Goulet at Fight Night 11 on 09/19.

  2. Middleweight Bout: Chris Leben Vs. Terry Martin
  3. Welterweight Bout: Jonathan Goulet Vs. Dustin Hazelett
  4. Lightweight Bout: Nathan Diaz Vs. Junior Assuncao
  5. Welterweight Bout: Edilberto Crocota Vs. Luke Cummo
  6. Lightweight Bout: Gray Maynard Vs. Joe Veres
  7. Welterweight Bout: Kuniyoshi Hironaka Vs. Thiago Alves
  8. Lightweight Bout: Cole Miller Vs. Leonard Garcia
  9. Middleweight Bout: Nathan Quarry Vs. Pete Sell

Fighter forced off of FN 11 card due to injury.

Mike Swick who was scheduled to take on Jonathan Goulet in a Welterweight contest has injured his ribs in training and has had to pull out of his scheduled 09/19 fight.

  2. Middleweight Bout: Terry Martin Vs. Chris Leben
  3. Lightweight Bout: Nathan Diaz Vs. Junior Assuncao
  4. Welterweight Bout: Jonathan Goulet Vs. TBD
  5. Welterweight Bout: Edilberto Crocota Vs. Luke Cummo
  6. Lightweight Bout: Gray Maynard Vs. Joe Veres
  7. Welterweight Bout: Kuniyoshi Hironaka Vs. Thiago Alves
  8. Lightweight Bout: Cole Miller Vs. Leonard Garcia
  9. Middleweight Bout: Nate Quarry Vs. Pete Sell


The first 3 are scheduled for air on SpikeTV before the premier of The Ultimate Fighter 6. The Swick-Goulet bout was also scheduled to air before Swick's injury. Internet rumors have Dustin Hazelett being offered the fight.
