Cub Swanson to fight Jens Pulver on 11/3?

That's the word according to Cub Swanson via his MySpace page.

The fight was set to take place on 09/05 as part of WEC 30, but Pulver had to pull out with a knee injury. It was hoped a replacement could be found, but now it appears as though they've just decided to remove Cub Swanson from that card and try again in November.

WEC 30 which was to feature the debut of Jens Pulver moving to the WEC and the Featherweight Division will take place on Versus on 09/05 which is quickly approaching.

The bouts...

1. Lightweight Championship Bout: "Razor" Rob McCullough vs. Rich Crunkilton
   
2. Bantamweight Championship Bout: Chase Beebe vs. Rani Yahya
   
3. Bantamweight Bout: Jeff Bedard vs. Miguel Torres
   
4. Welterweight Bout: John Alessio vs. Marcelo Brito
   
5. Bantamweight Bout: Ian McCall vs. Coty Wheeler
   
6. Middleweight Bout: Bryan Baker vs. Jesse Forbes
   
7. Lightweight Bout: Donald Cerrone vs. Sergio Gomez
   
8. Featherweight Bout: Cub Swanson vs. TBA

That would make 8 bouts for a show that typically has nine.

According to Sherdog, Jens Pulver has been scratched from WEC 30 on 09/05 due to a knee injury suffered last friday. Pulver is set to under go an MRI later this week to determine whether therapy or surgery is the best coarse of action.

Pulver, who has dropped his last 2 fights in the UFC was set to move to the WEC and drop to the 145 LB division. His first opponent was to be Cub Swanson and his 11-1 record. No word on who will replace him in that bout.

I expressed my feelings on this in the title of this post as I have made it no secret that I am a big fan of Jens Pulver and was looking forward to this fight. My best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Jean Silva will face Masakazu Imanari in a featherweight bout on 09/22.

According to the Cage Rage website that should finalize the card.

Pulver talks Featherweight division and move to WEC

For those that were regular readers of the OC Times, you may have noticed a distinct lack of linking to other websites, and large article roundups that were common over there. I'm doing this purposely as sure, telling you where all this content was was a staple of mine but it was also time consuming and took away from the work I wanted to do. So, rare is it you'll see me link to interviews when in the future I expect to be conducting them.

However, I'm such a fan of this man that for Jens Pulver who talks with MMAWeekly about his WEC 30 match with Cub Swanson, and the Featherweight division overall, I'll break that rule.

I've mentioned this before I believe, but I really look forward to seeing any show where I can watch Featherweight and Bantamweight fights. It is good to see the divisions growing and in an odd sort of way the fact we don't have them in the UFC is what actually makes them more special.
