John Cena to be examined by Dr. James Andrews in Burmingham later today

It is believed that Cena suffered a torn right pectoral muscle in his Raw main event last night against Mr. Kennedy.

The examination to be conducted later today will determine the severity of the injury, the type of treatment to rehab the injury and the amount of time Cena could be out of action.

Like I wrote last night, in terms of talent going down this is pretty much the worst guy for WWE to lose to an injury. Cena is by far and away the top star in the promotion, loved by many and hated by a near equal amount of fans.

I don't know what this means for No Mercy though I suppose we'll find out later today. Cena has been so reliable that it is hard to think of him not being in his scheduled main event match with Randy Orton. If Cena's injury is serious, well then Orton may finally get the title whether that was the original idea or not.

Personally, I hope for the best for Cena. I see him as good for the WWE and by extension the wrestling business and in many ways I find the hatred of the guy to be mystifying.

More as it develops.

I'm sure this will be a topic of conversation among Euan, Art and myself on tonight's combat Hooligans show.
