Show #500 - Ian's Retirement - 12/7 in Plainfield

We have talked with the building in Plainfield and worked out a deal with the volleyball players and have switched dates. We will now be having the show on Friday night, December 7th so that fans and wrestlers will not have to choose between the other shows going on on the 8th. We always try to accomodate our fans/wrestlers and this change of the date will make things easier on everyone. We will also make sure that this show will be IWA Mid-South's 500th show in our history. So this is going to be a huge night for us professionally and personally.

Friday Night, December 7th, 2007 - SHOW #500
Capital Sports Center
1915 Gladden Road
Plainfield, IN
8 pm Bell Time - Doors Open at 7 pm
Ticket prices are $30 front row; $25 second row; $20 bleachers

Main Event - Ian Rotten's Retirement Match
Ian Rotten vs. Mickie Knuckles
Ian's career has spanned 17 years and he has traveled the world and wrestled in such companies as ECW, USWA and Global that gave him television exposure and helped build his name. He started IWA Mid-South 11 years ago when he moved to Kentucky after he fell in love with Patti. This will mark the end of an era as he wrestles his final match and who better to face in that match than his final student that graduated the Ian Rotten Wrestling School. Ian and Mickie have had many memorable matches in more than just IWA Mid-South but I don't think anyone will forget the 2003 TPI or the 2006 KOTDM or even the match after that in Streamwood. This one is going to be something to remember even more than those other matches as Ian has promised to bring the house down on his final night inside a wrestling ring. Hopefully everyone will come out and support IWA Mid-South and give Ian a great sendoff into retirement.

Also appearing on this show...
Former WWE/ECW/WCW Superstar - Sandman!!!!

We will be announcing Sandman's opponent for this show soon.

I would like to address a few things that I know is on people's minds, from other boards and things people have talked to me about at other shows.

A lot of people think that we are doing this with an attempt to draw a good crowd and that I will be back wrestling again in no time at all because of things that have occurred in the past. The last time I said that I was done with wrestling, was because of doctors, not of my own free will. This time though, it is of my own free will.
Injuries over the past 17 yrs. are really starting to take there toll on me as I get older. I never want to be one of those guys that is just there, collecting a pay day. I don't want to be one of those guys that other people are saying that I should have retired 5 yrs. ago. I feel like I can accept this and be content with it on my own terms. I truly do love the wrestling business, since the day my father first took me to the Baltimore Civic Center when I was 4 yrs. old.
I also truly take the nickname of the "Undisputed King Of Hardcore" to heart. As many of you know, the word "hardcore" to me means: giving it everything you got every time you're out there. I never want to be to the point that I can't give it everything I got.
I have lived all of my dreams that I ever dreamed of. I have traveled the world, seen things that people have payed thousands of dollars to see, and have been payed to do so. I am content with going out on my own accord.
I will still have IWA to run, and to people that have never done it: to sometimes have to sell tickets, run a show, and get dressed and be prepared to wrestle. You can never imagine how tough this is to do. It is my hope, with cutting out a few of these things, I may be able to better the IWA shows.
Then comes the now almost 2 yr. old. Many of you may not know that I have been wrestling with rotator cup injuries for the better part of this year. I don't want to be the dad that cannot pick up or play with his child. Not to mention, with retirement would come more time to spend with my children on weekends that IWA does not have shows. As it is right now, when IWA doesn't have shows I go somewhere else to wrestle.
My choice for last opponent. A lot of people think I should wrestle Axl, Corp, Pondo, Bull, J.C., or Drake Younger. First of all, for those of you wanting Axl, don't get your hopes up. Axl's demons would be WAY too much for me to handle on what I hope to be a memorable night. Pondo, Corp, Bull, J.C., and Drake, many of you are right. Any one of those guys would be an excellent farewell. But, I chose Mickie because I don't look at her as a woman or a girl. I look at her as a worker. A worker who has dedicated herself to IWA in the fullest terms. From hot dogs, to the gimmick table, to tearing down and putting up the ring with an unquestioned loyalty. Not to mention the fact, she is my last student to go through the school and there is no one that I would rather be in the ring with when I hang up the denim shorts, singlet, and boots for the last time. Mickie has done everything that she possibly could for IWA and I think she deserves this. If you're one of those people that are unhappy with this decision, I suggest you get over it and get your head out of the 70's. Because I promise you, me and her will tear down the house on December 7th. Which will be a happy birthday to James Christopher Williams!
IWA has always been about family which includes many people that have came to the shows on a regular basis and supported us when they couldn't do so many different ways. As much as it saddens me to call it quits, it's also something I am looking forward to. I hope to see everyone December 7th, because believe you me it's gonna be tough to say good bye.

Thanks,
Ian
