It was announced this week that Sports & Entertainment Publications, a subsidiary of Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Enterprises purchased premiere boxing publication The Ring magazine last month from Blue Bell, PA-based company Kappa Publishing Group Inc. who has been publishing the magazine since 1992 although The Ring has been around since 1922.

De La Hoya stated in a press release, "As a young kid growing up, I was always waiting with anticipation to get the new issue of The Ring. To be here now and actually own the title is a dream come true."

The acquisition also included the KO, World Boxing and Pro Wrestling Illustrated publications as well.

The Ring editor Nigel Collins was positive about the purchase and the magazine's future, "Now we have somebody who owns the magazine who's a boxing person. . . . Because of the love of the sport, we'll be given the resources to do more than we have been."

Golden Boy Enterprises has hired seven Kappa employees and will rent office space and services from Kappa with no plans to move the magazine elsewhere.
